ATOI(3) Library Functions Manual ATOI(3)

atoi, atoi_lconvert ASCII string to integer

library “libc”

#include <stdlib.h>

int
atoi(const char *nptr);

#include <xlocale.h>

int
atoi_l(const char *nptr, locale_t loc);

The () function converts the initial portion of the string pointed to by nptr to int representation.

It is equivalent to:

(int)strtol(nptr, NULL, 10);

The () function has been deprecated by () and should not be used in new code.

The _l-suffixed version takes an explicit locale argument, whereas the non-suffixed version use the current global or per-thread locale.

The function atoi() need not affect the value of errno on an error.
